The campus is home to the Mary Miller Smiser Heritage Library and Museum, Culp Building, and the 1838-1871 County Courthouse. The courthouse where the Old Drum Trial took place, has been carefully restored in its original location. In the trial’s closing arguments, George Graham Vest’s Eulogy of the Dog made the trial known around the world by serving as the inspiration for the phrase, Man’s Best Friend.

This park is a tranquil retreat of open oak woodland with a few patches of prairie along both sides of Clearfork Creek. It’s a place for anglers to wet a line, for mountain bikers, hikers and horseback riders to get some trail time, and for families to spend quality time together. Kayaks are available to rent. Rock Island Spur of Katy Trail State Park, Spearheads are in Leeton and Chilhowee
A 47.5-mile trail that stretches through the heart of west central Missouri. It provides an adventure for bicyclists, hikers and equestrian users who are seeking an avenue to enjoy nature, explore a part of rural history and have an enjoyable recreational opportunity. The trail is built on the former corridor of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad.

You’ll find it all at Twisters 35,000 square feet facility including programs that’ll have you moving, top-of-the-line batting cages, video game arcade and outdoor picnic area. Escape the Burg, Twisters new addition will open summer 2018. The escape room is geared to adult age participants.

The Union Bowling Center is a family-friendly 10-lane bowling alley. If you catch the alley at night, you’ll catch Glo-Bowl! During this special time, the lights go out, pins light up and the music blasts. This crowd favorite is held Friday and Saturday nights after 8 p.m. If you start to get hangry while bowling, don’t worry. Steak N’ Shake is in the building just a few feet away.

UCM Student Recreation and Wellness Center, UCM Campus
The UCM SRWC offers more than 1,000 square feet of vertical climbing and bouldering. The minimum weight is 22 lbs. and maximum weight is 220 lbs. They offer special kid harnesses for smaller climbers. Special hours are offered for the public. Give them a call for more information.
